Main Trail Reopens

SERVICE ACCESS ROAD

The service road/access trail is now open  and the temporary access trail is permanently closed.  Additional road/trail  work on some areas with drainage issues will be done as weather permits.

THE BIVY
The Bivouac pathways project will be completed as weather allows. Due to wet conditions it is not possible to pack down the new gravel so it will be muddy and sticky in areas.

Delayed Construction

Snow Detour TrailThe service road/main access trail construction resumed on Tuesday after sixteen inches of snow and below zero night time temperatures delayed work for 12 days.
Wednesday afternoon the heavy equipment left the site and the service road/main access trail construction barricades have been removed. Although at the time of this post the road/trail had not been officially opened.

Canyon Access Restricted

SERVICE ACCESS ROAD

Road/Trail ConstructionConcrete work has begun today (November 3rd) and for the next 2 weeks the service access road is officially closed from the intersection of the Rim Rock Trail near the picnic shelter down about 300’ to the intersection of the Temporary Trail and the service access road (see the “CLOSED AREA” on the photo below.)

 

PLEASE USE THE TEMPORARY TRAIL TO REACH THE CHUTE TRAIL INTO THE CANYON.

Any unauthorized person not complying with the upper service access road closure risks receiving a compliance request or citation.
The Rope-De-Dope Trail from the Bivy or the Homestead Trail from the turn-around can also be used to access the canyon.
