Gusty winds have temporarily cleared the air in the Smith Rock area.

NWS AIR QUALITY ALERT
OREGON DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY AND THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY HAVE ISSUED AN AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. WILDFIRES BURNING IN THE REGION COMBINED WITH FORECASTED CONDITIONS WILL CAUSE AIR QUALITY TO REACH
UNHEALTHY LEVELS. IN ADDITION A COLD FRONT WILL PASS THROUGH THE TWO STATE AREA SATURDAY AND CREATE WINDY CONDITIONS. ALTHOUGH THE AIR QUALITY MAY IMPROVE BRIEFLY THE WINDY CONDITIONS WILL ALSO PRODUCE AREAS OF BLOWING DUST THAT WILL CONTINUE TO AGGRAVATE THE UNHEALTHY AIR QUALITY THROUGH THE WEEKEND. POLLUTANTS IN SMOKE CAN CAUSE
BURNING EYES, RUNNY NOSE, AGGRAVATE
HEART AND LUNG DISEASES AND
AGGRAVATE OTHER SERIOUS HEALTH
PROBLEMS. LIMIT OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AND KEEP
CHILDREN INDOORS IF IT IS SMOKY.
