7 Bikes for 7 wonders smith rock bike scavenger hunt
Wade Beauchamp of Vulture Cycles built the "Smith Rocket" especially for the terrain here at Smith Rock State Park. It has 29-inch wheels, the proper gearing for climbing steep roads, and disk brakes for control coming down those grades.
They've even tricked it out with an attached leather binocular case for a little bird-watching, as well as a rope bag for climbing. Not that you'll ride to the base of a climb, but hey, it's a free rope bag!
The description for the one-of-a-kind paint job? They say it features multiple colors fading in and out to reflect a Central Oregon sunset – and a blue line on the rims to subtly reflect the Crooked River that winds around the base of Smith Rock. Nice touch.
