Green is the New Black—And It Means Free Parking at Smith Rock
November 10, 2017
Go Green and spend your Black Friday at Smith Rock State Park the day after Thanksgiving. You can even use the $5 you save parking to shop online later.
It's called Green Friday. For the third successive year, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) will waive day-use parking fees at the 26 state parks the charge them on November 24.
The fee stations will be covered up, so if you really want to pay, make a donation at the Welcome Center.
We love the trend started by REI with their "Opt Outside" campaign to reverse the burst of consumerism that traditionally marks the start of our holiday season.
And we also love that the State parks system makes it easier for families and friends to spend that time together here at Smith Rock with Green Friday. Something we can all be thankful for.
