Wolf Tree Trail Improvement Starts December 17 at Smith Rock

Wolf Tree Trail improvement work begins on Monday December 17th, with trail closures and detours that may be needed for a limited duration. The trail contractor will be using trail building machinery, and the work is expected to be completed by mid January, weather permitting.

After pouring over the proposed Smith Rock Master Plan maps and descriptions to provide feedback to Oregon Parks and Rec before the December 15 deadline, we were still a tad confused. We thought you might be too. We asked Scott Brown, Smith Rock State Park Manager to take us to some of the sites of the biggest proposed changes.

Don’t worry, the bridge is safe at Smith Rock.

Part of the greater plan to widen the footbridge over the Crooked River, a contractor will be working to install a weight limiting system on the footbridge. Construction may result in some limited closures of around 10-20 minutes. Work started yesterday and will run until the 15th. If anything changes we’ll be sure to let you know on our Facebook page.

And while it’s raining and snowing on the west side and the mountains, it’s usually dry and ten degrees warmer at Smith Rock.
